Invitation to Submit
Articles
The Intellectual Property and Technology
Law Review (IPTLRev)
invites members of the bench,
bar, and academic communities
to submit articles on any intellectual property law-related topic. IPTLRev is published twice each year, in the
Fall and in the Spring, and is comprised of essays, legal articles, public administration articles, and current
public law and policy issues. In particular, we prefer analysis of new laws, cases, rulings, regulations and areas
of intellectual property in which the author presents his or her opinion concerning the validity, significance
and/or impact of the question at issue, along with innovative ideas or strategies.
Article Submission
IPTLRev accepts articles in electronic forms only (e-mail attachment or on a 3-1/2 inch disk) in one of the following
formats: Microsoft Word (preferred), WordPerfect, or Rich Text Format (RTF). Graphics should be submitted in Visio
or PowerPoint format. Articles should be typed, double spaced, and with 1 inch margins throughout. For citations
and general questions of style please follow the ALWD Citation Manual and The Chicago Manual Of Style (14th ed.
1993). Footnotes should include parallel citations to the United States Patent Quarterly, where appropriate. Dedications
or other information must be numbered as a normal footnote. Please contact us for questions regarding the submission
process. Submissions should adhere to the following guidelines:
1) Title Page: This page should include:
- The main title not to exceed 80 characters,
including spaces
- Author names, degrees, and institutional
affiliations
- Author’s mailing address, phone and
fax number, and e-mail address.
2) Abstract: This page should include:
- Main title
- An abstract of no more than 100 words.
All author identification should be removed.
3) Format: Author(s) should indicate
which of the following formats were followed:
- Feature Articles: Feature articles are limited to a length
of 20 pages, including footnotes, references, etc.
- Research Briefs: Research briefs are short data-based reports
related to intellectual property education and promotion. Restricted to 10 pages, these reports should conform
to the general articles submission requirements.
- Case Studies: Case study articles, limited to 20 pages,
evolve around the planning, implementation and evaluation of intellectual property education and promotion programs.
Case studies should include in depth discussion.
- Practical Perspectives: These short articles, limited to 10 pages,
are designed to be “how to” or “how we did it” articles.
- Commentaries: Commentaries are designed to allow expository
writing on contemporary issues and concerns. Length should not exceed 5 pages.
Article Review
All submissions will be reviewed for publication by the Board of Editors. Publication in any issue is dependent
on editorial limitations, publication schedules, and space availability. Authors will be notified of the Board's
decision regarding publication of their article as soon as possible. Accepted articles undergo extensive editorial
and technical review prior to publication. IPTLRev reserves the right to condition acceptance of an article upon
revision of the article to conform to the law review’s guidelines. No compensation is provided for published articles.
Please note that IPTLRev will not publish material that has been committed for publication in another journal except
by written permission by the Board of Editors. Authors should promptly advise the Board when their work has been
accepted elsewhere. Articles submitted to IPTLRev will be returned only in the event of an express request by the
author(s).
